Acorn Training increases support to the Care Industry with contract win in Greater Manchester

(Friday 8 October 2021) Award-winning national training provider, Acorn Training, has successfully been named as a lead training provider of Health & Social Care in the Greater Manchester Combined Authority (GMCA) devolved area.

Acorn Training will support The Growth Hub and Skills for Growth to deliver high-quality training to dedicated workers within the care industry, ensuring the 2.8 million individuals living in the GMCA area can access and receive high-quality care from its health care services.

Since 2010, Acorn Training has delivered highly effective Health & Social Care apprenticeship programmes, with nearly 700 learners currently working with the training provider across a variety of subjects. The company also successfully placed as one of the providers on the Salisbury NHSFT’s national framework for delivery of four apprenticeship standards enabling them to work with any NHS organisation to deliver these tailored to the needs of NHS employers.

In addition to providing training services, Acorn Training will also be bringing their renowned inclusive ethos to the area in a separate upcoming project; working across GMCA supporting ex-offenders with a Specialist Support worker to address the multiple and complex needs that can arise from homelessness, unemployment and offending.

Acorn Training’s commitment to diversity and inclusion was recognised by World Skills UK earlier this year at their Diversity & Inclusion Heroes Awards. The company won two of the five awards; named as Network of the Year and Managing Director, Gareth Fallows, winning the prestigious Role Model Award. The company plan to continue championing their strong core values and ethos in GMCA with plans to support the community by working with and breaking down barriers for young people.
