About the Apprenticeship
The learning and skills mentor supports individuals and groups in their learning and development toward future professional goals. They typically work as the knowledgeable resource within their organisation, mentoring in various locations and environments, whether face-to-face or remotely.
- Managing the mentor-mentee relationship within ethical, legal, and organizational boundaries.
- Collaborating with stakeholders to support mentee progression and maintain best practices.
- Interacting with professionals at all levels, including supervisors, managers, trainees, and other experienced practitioners, as well as internal and external professionals, to address the individual needs of mentees.
- Completing assigned tasks independently and meeting specified deadlines with minimal supervision.
- Committing to their own professional development and reflective practice.
Individual employers may set any entry requirements which may include:
- Competence in vocational and/or specialist subject at an appropriate level
- Confirmation of current vocational/specialist subject knowledge
- Up-to-date knowledge of workplace practice
- A willingness to continue to develop personal ICT skills to a level in-line with the LSM role
What qualifications will the learner receive?
- Institute for Apprenticeships Learning & Skills Mentor Level 4, achievable at Pass, Merit or Distinction.
