Our Connect to Work Participant’s Journey to Employment: A Success Worth Celebrating!
Sometimes all it takes is the right support, encouragement and opportunity to unlock someone’s potential. Our Connect to Work participant’s journey is a fantastic example of how personalised guidance can rebuild confidence, open doors and create life-changing employment outcomes.
From nearly 100 unsuccessful applications to securing multiple job opportunities in just three weeks, their story demonstrates the transformational impact of tailored employment support.

We’re delighted to celebrate this success as our first employment outcome on the programme, a milestone that highlights what can be achieved through determination, personalised support and a belief that positive change is possible.
From Rejection to Renewed Confidence
When our Connect to Work participant first joined the programme, they were struggling with a loss of confidence after experiencing repeated setbacks in their job search. They worried that their age and reliance on disability benefits would make it difficult for employers to recognise their skills and value.
Despite applying for almost 100 jobs in just four weeks, they had received little more than rejection emails. The constant disappointment had left them questioning whether a return to employment was even possible. Yet they remained determined and, with the support of their Employment Specialist, began a new chapter.
A Fresh Approach
Together, the participant and Vicky Wheatley, Employment Specialist, reviewed their job search strategy and identified ways to better showcase their strengths and experience.
Their CV was completely refreshed, removing information that could unintentionally distract employers while placing greater emphasis on skills, achievements and extensive career history. Applications were then tailored more effectively to individual vacancies, ensuring employers could clearly see the value they could bring to an organisation, the impact was immediate.
Momentum Builds
Within just one week of updating their CV and improving their application approach, the participant secured an interview with Three Shires Private Hospital and received a job offer.
For someone who had faced almost constant rejection, this was a significant turning point. It reinforced that their skills remained highly relevant and gave them a much-needed boost in confidence.
Determined to maintain the momentum, they continued working closely with their Employment Specialist to pursue additional opportunities that matched their long-term goals.
Back in Work
Just three days later, the participant secured a full-time warehouse role, allowing them to return to employment quickly and regain financial stability. More importantly, the role provided a renewed sense of purpose and helped ease the anxiety they had been experiencing throughout their period of unemployment.
As their confidence grew, so did their ambitions. With ongoing support, they continued applying for opportunities that better suited their experience and future aspirations. Interview preparation, tailored applications and personalised guidance helped them approach each opportunity with greater confidence and optimism.
Exceptional Results in Three Weeks
What makes this journey particularly inspiring is the speed of the participant’s progress. Within just three weeks, they secured three job opportunities, successfully returned to employment and progressed to interview stage for a permanent full-time administrative position.
Alongside these tangible outcomes, they rebuilt their confidence, strengthened their job-search skills and developed a renewed belief in their future. Their story demonstrates how targeted, personalised support can help people overcome barriers and achieve results that once felt out of reach.
