About the course

The Level 3 Technical Specialist Qualification in Special Educational Needs Co-ordinators (SENCO) in Early Years Settings is designed for early years practitioners who want to build specialist knowledge and practical skills to support children with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND). This course is ideal for those currently working as, or aspiring to become, a SENCO. It covers the key responsibilities of the role, effective strategies for supporting children and their families, and provides a clear understanding of the SEND Code of Practice.

We deliver this programme in partnership with Best Practice Network, supporting early years practitioners to strengthen SEND practice and build confidence in their SENCO role.

"I started this particular course to develop my own personal understanding for my son and supporting him as knowledge is power and I wanted to understand more about his entitlements and the EHCP process, it has also made me look into job opportunities where my newfound knowledge will assist me into learning more and resulting in a job within a SEND environment. I've recently volunteered at a local primary school for 1:1 reading and I'm hoping I can develop my knowledge further; I am passionate about supporting these children and young adults and continuing my learning in this area."
